Neil Getnick Testifies Before New York City Counsel to Endorse Randy Mastro
On August 27, 2024, Getnick Law Managing Partner Neil Getnick testified before the New York City Counsel to endorse Randy Mastro as New York City Corporation Counsel. The Corporation Counsel leads the New York City Law Department, which represents the City, Mayor, other elected officials, and the City’s agencies.
In his testimony, Mr. Getnick highlighted his collaboration with Mr. Mastro to “structurally reform . . . corrupted industries and markets” in New York City, including the commercial carting industry and Fulton Fish Market. Mr. Getnick noted that through that work, Mr. Mastro implemented programs that “established a rule of law over mob control that had eroded confidence in City government.”
Effective Independent Monitoring programs are essential to maintaining business integrity in corruption-prone industries. Getnick Law has been at the forefront of developing independent monitoring practices and its ethical standards, as well as promoting independent monitoring concepts internationally.
In endorsing Randy Mastro for New York City Corporation Counsel, Mr. Getnick advised the Council that Mr. Mastro had “literally risked his life taking on organized crime” to promote ethical business practices in our City, concluding that “Mr. Mastro’s integrity, skill, and non-partisan dedication to this City commend him as an ideal Corporation Counsel.”
