All News January 13, 2020

Getnick Law attorney Gregory Krakower was called as an expert witness by the New York City Council Committee on Oversight and Investigations to testify on model whistleblower protections, best practices, and aspects of New York City’s whistleblower laws that the City should examine in order to strengthen whistleblower protections and rights.

The hearing marks the commencement of a comprehensive effort by New York City Councilman Ritchie Torres (D-Bronx), Chairman of the Committee, to examine and improve New York City’s whistleblower law by considering significant expansions of anti-retaliation protections and improvements to the New York City False Claims Act.

Mr. Krakower played a leading role in drafting and implementing several state whistleblower laws, including the New York State False Claims Act, when he served as Counselor to the New York State Attorney General and Director of the New York State Senate Policy Group. In addition to being Of Counsel at Getnick Law, Mr. Krakower is an Adjunct Professor at Cardozo Law School, where he teaches “Whistleblower Statutes and Corporate Fraud,” a course that he established in 2015.
