Luis Moreno-Ocampo Teaching at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government
Global Practice Counsel Luis Moreno-Ocampo is currently co-teaching “The Politics of International Law: The International Criminal Court and the United Nations Security Council” at the Harvard Kennedy School. As the former first Chief Prosecutor of the ICC, Moreno-Ocampo brings unique insight to the exploration of the origins, functioning and effectiveness of the International Criminal Court, as well as its interactions with the UN Security Council.
Among other things, the course will provide an introduction to international law on the use of force, international criminal law, and the politics of the Security Council. It will explore the emergence of the doctrine of Responsibility to Protect and the impact the doctrine has had on Security Council action. The course will examine the contribution of the Rome Statute system to the development of international law.
